Overview
We service and repair BMW automatic gearboxes, mainly the ZF 6-speed and ZF 8-speed (8HP), plus DCT gearboxes on older M cars and xDrive transfer cases. Fluid services, mechatronic sleeve leaks and adaptation resets fix many shifting problems.

Common jobs
What we see on BMW cars
ZF 8HP fluid and pan service
The 8HP is strong but benefits from a fluid and integrated pan-filter change in UAE heat, despite "lifetime" fill.
Mechatronic sleeve leaks
Oil leaking at the gearbox electrical connector is a known issue on ZF gearboxes and can damage the mechatronic unit if ignored.
xDrive transfer case
Jerking in tight turns or 4x4 warnings on X3 and X5 models can be the transfer case or its actuator motor.
Adaptation reset
After a service or repair, gearbox adaptations are reset so shifts are smooth.
Signs to watch for
- Jerky, harsh or delayed gear changes
- Engine revs rise but the car does not accelerate (slipping)
- Gearbox warning or limp mode
- Delay when selecting Drive or Reverse
- Whining, clunking or burning smell
- Red fluid leaking under the car
How we do it
Road test and scan
We drive the car to feel the fault and read transmission codes and adaptation data.
Fluid and mechanical checks
Fluid level and condition, leaks and mounts are checked, because many shifting problems start there.
Repair plan
We explain whether a fluid service, software adaptation, part replacement or overhaul is needed, with an estimate.
Repair, adapt and test
After the work we reset adaptations and road-test until the gearbox shifts correctly.
FAQ
Common questions
Does my BMW gearbox oil need changing?
BMW calls it lifetime fill, but in Dubai a fluid and filter service around 60,000 to 80,000 km helps protect the gearbox.
My BMW shifts harshly. Do I need a new gearbox?
Usually not. Fluid, a leaking sleeve, the mechatronic unit or adaptations are more common causes.
