Because MINI shares engines and electronics with BMW, we use BMW/MINI diagnostics and coding to service and repair the Cooper, Cooper S, Clubman, Countryman and John Cooper Works models, including timing chains, cooling systems, oil leaks and electrical faults.

What to know about your MINI
Most MINIs use BMW engines
MINIs from 2014 onwards (F-generation) use BMW three- and four-cylinder engines (B38 and B48). Older R-generation cars use the "Prince" engines, which are known for timing-chain and oil-consumption issues.

Your MINI tracks oil, brakes, brake fluid and other items separately and shows each due date.
Battery registration needed
As on BMWs, a new battery must be registered so the car charges it correctly.

Timing chain on older Cooper S
Older N14 and N18 engines are known for timing-chain wear, heard as a rattle on start-up.
Thermostat housing and coolant leaks
Coolant leaks and overheating warnings are common in Dubai heat.
Oil leaks and oil consumption
Valve cover and oil filter housing gaskets leak with age.
Battery coding
Like BMW, MINI needs a new battery registered to the car.
