What to know about your Mitsubishi
Super Select 4WD
Pajero, Montero Sport and L200 models use Super Select, which can run in 4WD on tarmac (4H) thanks to a centre differential. Fluids in the transfer case and axles need changing after heavy sand use.
CVTs on the smaller models
ASX, Outlander, Eclipse Cross and Attrage use a CVT; regular fluid changes keep it smooth.
Cooling first in summer
Older Pajeros especially need a healthy radiator and fan; overheating is the most common summer breakdown.

Pajero cooling and gearbox
The 3.8-litre V6 Pajero works hard in summer and on desert trips. Radiator, fans and automatic gearbox fluid are the first things we check when it runs hot or shifts late.
Super Select 4WD
Pajero, Montero Sport and L200 four-wheel-drive modes that won't engage, or a warning light, are traced to the transfer case, actuators or switches.
CVT care
ASX, Outlander, Eclipse Cross and Attrage CVTs stay smooth with regular fluid changes; a whine or judder needs a check.
Suspension on work vehicles
L200 leaf springs, shocks and bushes and Pajero suspension parts wear faster on rough roads and sand.
