Advice for Hyundai owners in Dubai. Dubai heat and traffic count as "severe" use in Hyundai's schedule, so use the shorter oil-change interval in your booklet rather than the normal one.
Owner's guide
What to know about your Hyundai
Three types of gearbox
Depending on model and engine, your Hyundai may have a conventional automatic, a seven- or eight-speed dual-clutch (DCT) or an IVT (Hyundai's CVT). Each needs a different fluid and a different approach to faults.
Check recall work on older engines
Many 2.0 and 2.4-litre Theta II engines were covered by recalls and extended engine checks. If you bought the car used, it is worth confirming what was done.
Severe-use schedule fits Dubai
Hyundai treats hot climates and stop-start driving as severe use, with shorter oil and filter intervals.
Repairs
Common Hyundai problems we fix
Engine knocking or oil use
Some 2.0 and 2.4-litre Theta II engines (Sonata, Santa Fe, Tucson, roughly 2011–2019) were recalled for bearing wear. A knock or rising oil use should be checked straight away; we also check whether recall work was done.
Dual-clutch hesitation
Turbo Tucson and Elantra models with the seven-speed dual-clutch can judder or hesitate in traffic. Clutch adaptation and software are checked before any parts.
IVT (CVT) servicing
Newer Elantra, Accent and Creta models use an IVT. Fresh fluid at the right interval keeps it smooth in stop-start traffic.
AC and cooling
Condensers, compressors and radiator fans work hard in summer. We test pressures and fans properly before recharging.

Periodic maintenance (severe use). Hyundai uses fixed intervals. In Dubai, use the severe-use column in your booklet.
| Item | When | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Engine oil and filter | At the severe-use interval in your booklet | — |
| DCT / IVT / automatic fluid | Check every service; change at the booklet interval or sooner in heavy traffic | Correct Hyundai fluid only. |
| Air and cabin filters | Check every service | Dust shortens their life. |
| Brake fluid | At the booklet interval (often 2 years) | — |
Every Hyundai that comes in is connected to Hyundai-capable diagnostic software, including gearbox and clutch adaptation data, and we check:
- Fault-code scan
- Engine noise and oil level
- Gearbox behaviour
- AC performance
- Brakes and suspension
