Advice for Chevrolet owners in Dubai. Chevrolet's oil-life monitor counts down from how you drive. With summer heat, idling and towing, it often asks for oil sooner than the mileage suggests, so trust the monitor.
Owner's guide
What to know about your Chevrolet
Cylinder deactivation saves fuel but adds parts
The 5.3 and 6.2 V8s switch off cylinders at light load (AFM or DFM). The special lifters involved are the most common major engine repair on these trucks.
8- and 10-speed automatics
Recent Tahoes, Suburbans and Silverados use an 8- or 10-speed automatic. Fluid type matters: GM changed the recommended fluid to fix shudder.
Trust the oil-life monitor
GM's oil-life monitor calculates from engine revolutions and temperature, so it reflects Dubai heat and idling.
Repairs
Common Chevrolet problems we fix
V8 lifter tick and misfire
The 5.3 and 6.2-litre V8s with cylinder deactivation (AFM/DFM) can develop a lifter fault: a tick, misfire or check-engine light. Early diagnosis limits the damage.
8-speed shudder
A shudder at steady speed on 8-speed automatics is often the torque converter and fluid; GM issued a fluid-change fix for many cases. We test before replacing anything.
AC on big SUVs
Tahoe and Suburban have front and rear AC with long pipes. Leaks, condensers and compressors are leak-tested before recharging.
Suspension and steering
Heavy SUVs and pickups wear bushes, ball joints and shocks on speed bumps; Magnetic Ride and air suspension faults are diagnosed properly.
