Mercedes-Benz and BMW are among the most common premium cars in Dubai. Their precise engineering and many electronic systems give a great drive, but they need correct maintenance, especially in heat and traffic.
Why they need specialist maintenance
- Advanced electronics: dozens of control units that need brand-specific diagnostic software.
- Specified oils and parts: Mercedes specifies oils by MB sheet (such as 229.5 or 229.51), BMW by Longlife approval.
- Battery registration and coding: many new parts must be programmed to work properly.
- Resale value: a complete service record supports the car's value.
Mercedes-Benz maintenance
Mercedes uses the flexible ASSYST system, which shows when Service A (smaller) or Service B (larger) is due; they usually alternate each year. Dubai heat and traffic count as severe use, so a yearly service or roughly every 10,000 km is a safe approach.
Common issues in Dubai: oil leaks from the filter housing and oil cooler, 7G-Tronic and 9G-Tronic gearbox faults, AIRMATIC air suspension sitting low after parking, and weak AC.
BMW maintenance
BMW uses Condition Based Service (CBS), tracking oil, brakes, brake fluid, filters and spark plugs separately. Many Dubai owners change oil yearly or every 10,000 to 15,000 km rather than at the longest interval.
Common issues in Dubai: cooling-system failures (electric water pump, plastic tanks and pipes), valve cover and oil filter housing leaks, ZF gearbox connector sleeve leaks, and battery registration.

- Engine oil to the correct approval, plus the filter
- Air and cabin filters (they clog faster with Dubai dust)
- Brakes, and brake fluid every two years
- A cooling-system check at every service
- Gearbox fluid: despite "lifetime fill", a change around 60,000 to 80,000 km helps in heat
- Battery and AC checks before summer
Signs it needs a check
Warning lights, new noises, loss of power or harsh shifts, leaks under the car, or intermittent electrical faults. Early diagnosis with a full-system scan saves money.
